Chumley’s Caribbean Bear Cruise sets sail October 28th to November 4th sailing for Philipsburg St Maarten, San Juan Puerto Rico, and Nassau Bahamas from Miami.
Undoubtedly the Caribbean has always represented one of the most beautiful and fascinating destinations in the world, a dream for anyone looking to relax in magnificent settings featuring long stretches of white sandy beaches, palm trees, exotic fruit, the coral reef, all bustling with multi-colored tropical fish and turquoise seas.
St Maarten is one of our favorites; a Caribbean visit to The Netherlands and France all wrapped up in a tropical island with a split personality that is as irresistible and warm as its residents. San Juan offers just about anything you could want, from history and culture to rainforests and classical art, and Nassau is the original Caribbean port of call, with everything an island can offer – and some of the best boating, snorkeling and water sports to be found.
And all of this surrounded by an atmosphere which seems to have stopped the clock, leading the traveler to an ancient world made of colonial villages, rum plantations and pirate coves.
Inspired by the divine Italian actress Sophia Loren, MSC Divina brings you all the elegance and glamour of the golden age. Spacious and elegant; every element of the ship is designed with you in mind and with the utmost attention to detail.
From MSC Divina’s real stone piazza to the opulent Casino Veneziano and the Broadway-size Pantheon Theatre, the onboard experience is incredible. Feel like a star on our Swarovski crystal staircases or find inner calm in the gorgeous Infinity Pool, which extends seamlessly out to sea and the horizon beyond.
Dining is just as delightful on board MSC Divina. Savor the authentic slow-food delicacies of the Eataly Restaurant. Discover the exclusive ship-within-a-ship known as the MSC Yacht Club.
A vast array of professional massage and wellness treatments await in the exotic MSC Aurea Spa where we bring the sensuous Zen and relaxation of Bali to you. Also, enjoy the sun-soaked adults-only Top 18 with its premium deck space, stunning sea views, dedicated spa service and bar menu with complimentary fruit skewers.
With so much variety to experience, every day of your cruise will immerse you in a new voyage of divine discovery, cruising aboard MSC Divina.
Ports of Call
Fort Lauderdale/Miami, Florida
Although we will depart from Miami, we will be using many of our favorite Fort Lauderdale venues for our pre-sailing needs, and then providing an optional shuttle for the short ride to the Miami pier on embarkation day for those in need of transportation.
According to the popular 1960 beach movie, Fort Lauderdale is “where the boys are”, and Lauderdale today is the gayest little beach town in the world! In addition to the great bars, pubs and stunning white sand beaches, Fort Lauderdale boasts world-class theaters, museums, sightseeing, and shopping. The city sits just 24 miles north of Miami and is named after a series of forts built by the United States during the second Seminole War. The forts took their name from Major William Lauderdale, who was the commander of the detachment of soldiers who built the first fort. Look hard and you might find remnants of three of them today.
Philipsburg, St Maarten
The island of Sint Maarten/Saint Martin, ‘The Island of Smiles’, is officially named the “Friendly Island” by the many visitors that return each year. As a result of its location, the island has a beautiful tropical climate with summer-like conditions all year round. With its many hills crowned by Pic Paradis, some 1399 feet (424 meters) above sea level, this little isle embraced by the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, is an outpost of Europe in the middle of the Caribbean. Its people consisting of many nationalities and speaking three or more languages are always around to assist in a hospitable manner. Although Dutch is the official language on the Dutch Side and French on the French Side of the island, English is spoken by almost everyone and the warmth of the locals is just one of the things that make this a gorgeous destination.
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Five centuries ago, San Juan was an impenetrable fortified city. Today, the capital city of Puerto Rico is one of the top destinations in the Caribbean welcoming travelers from all over the world and easily one of the most culturally rich places in the world.
Prepare to be captivated by the natural enchantment of Puerto Rico, it’s vibrant culture, and old world elegance. San Juan is one of the most unique and accessible places in the Caribbean. San Juan sits on the island’s Atlantic coast. Its widest beach fronts the Isla Verde resort strip, known for its bars, nightclubs and casinos. Cobblestoned Old San Juan features colorful Spanish colonial buildings and 16th-century landmarks including El Morro and La Fortaleza, massive fortresses with sweeping ocean views, as well as the Paseo de la Princesa bayside promenade.
Nassau, the capital city of The Bahamas, is located on 21-mile-long New Providence, the Bahama’s 11th-largest island. Nassau’s main harbor is protected by the famous Paradise Island. The harbor attracted settlers in the early days, particularly pirates. In fact, Nassau’s population consisted mainly of pirates until 1718, when The Bahamas first Royal Governor, Woodes Rogers expelled them, restored order and built Fort Nassau. Now, 212,000 people call New Providence Island home, with a large portion of them residing in Nassau. Nassau is a bustling metropolitan hub full of culture and modern amenities, and Paradise Island features 685 acres of pure euphoria, developed almost exclusively to delight and accommodate visitors.
